What EarnBlock stores
To do its job, EarnBlock keeps a small amount of information in your browser's local storage on your own computer:
- The rules you create — which sites to block, which sites earn them, required minutes, and any schedules.
- Time you've spent today on your chosen "earn" sites, so it knows when a block should lift. Daily counts are kept briefly for the stats view and then age out.
- Your preferences — theme, sound, focus settings, and (if you buy Pro) your license status.
All of this lives on your device. EarnBlock does not transmit it anywhere.
What EarnBlock does not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising.
- No selling or sharing of data — there is no data collected to sell.
- No reading of page content. EarnBlock only checks a tab's website address against your rules to decide whether to block or count it.
Permissions, and why
Chrome asks you to approve permissions when you install. EarnBlock uses them only for its core function:
- Tabs / active tab: to see which site is open so it can block it or count earned time.
- Storage: to save your rules and preferences on your device.
- Declarative net request: to redirect blocked sites to the block page.
- Idle & alarms: to track focus time accurately and only while you're actually active.
Payments
EarnBlock's core is free. The optional one-time Pro upgrade is handled by a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe), which processes your payment under its own privacy policy. EarnBlock receives only a license confirmation — never your card details.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date above will be updated. Material changes will be noted on this page.
